Like most agencies that service the community, we're always in need of additional funding. Most agencies overwork their staff, they not only visit families and make sure the children are safe, but they often have to type and mail their own letters and keep track of the families criminal clearances and important documents. Almost on a weekly basis, it's simply an act of compassion when staff needs to advocate for the families by phoning service agencies who have them on extremely long waiting lists. A call from a professional can cut that waiting period in half, or reduce it to a week or so. Wanting staff that responds to the clients needs is often a choice of choosing whose going to be sacrificed? The client or our worker? Donations help us hire support staff. If we were in a position of having someone help our people with the tasks that drain our human resources, the road to adoption could be maximized, a child could be adopted in 6 to 8 months, as opposed to a year and a half. That's our aim. To have children feel they live normal lives with their new family void of the sleuth of social workers visiting their homes and school every other week.
